Mick Burson (B. 1990)Mick Burson is an American multidisciplinary artist known for his large-scale murals, paintings, printmaking, and installations that merge elements of abstraction, storytelling, and found-object assemblage. Originally from Waco, Texas, Burson emerged from a background in graffiti and train art before transitioning into public art and gallery-based practice. His early experiences painting freight trains and exploring abandoned spaces continue to inform his interest in movement, impermanence, and shared public experience.

Burson’s work often incorporates reclaimed materials, hand-cut steel, wood, and found objects, creating layered compositions that reflect themes of travel, coincidence, memory, and human connection. Reoccurring imagery such as horses, trucks, houses, and matchboxes function as personal symbols tied to freedom, instability, and the act of making art itself. His process embraces spontaneity and intuition, allowing materials and environments to shape the final work.
In addition to exhibiting in galleries and institutions, Burson has created public murals throughout the United States and internationally, including projects in Portugal, England, Spain, and Israel. In 2018, he completed what was then the largest mural in New Mexico on the Keshet Dance Center in Albuquerque. His work is held in numerous public and private collections, including Fidelity Investments, Facebook, the City of Albuquerque Public Art Collection, and the University of New Mexico. Burson earned his MFA from the University of New Mexico.
